o Withdrawal infants may be transferred to the pediatric unit and continue to be cared for on the NICU team SITE #2:
o 14 bed Neonatal intensive care unit with potential to expand to 20 beds in the respite nursery
o Credentialed to care for uncomplicated 28 weeks gestation infants and older
o Surgical patients and those requiring advanced respiratory support (NO or oscillator) are transferred out
o Approximately 3,600 deliveries annually
o NEODATA electronic documentation
· Role variations:
o Attend 80-100 deliveries/month. The delivery team is comprised of a NICU RN and NNP, with RT support for preterm deliveries and when requested
o Provide additional support for pediatricians, including consults and well baby exams when the pediatrician is unavailable
o Respond to neonatal codes and consultations in the ER
o Responsible for some staff education including mock codes and classes as well as informal bedside teaching
o Infants less than 37 weeks or less than 2500g are admitted to the nursery under pediatrician care for an observation period. Following admission, they are either admitted to Neonatology service or returned to the MBU under the care of the attending pediatrician BENEFITS:
o 272 hours of vacation time yearly subtracted from 1.0 FTE
o 208 hours of non-clinical time yearly subtracted from 1.0 FTE
o Total clinical hours = 1,600 hours yearly
o 36 hour work week (72 hours per pay period) · Education Time and Money
o $2,000 education allowance per year for full time employees, the rate is pro-rated for part-time employees
o 3 paid days (24 hours) of education leave not taken from PTO bank · Vacation Hours
o 34 days of paid vacation yearly (272 hours)
o 4 people off at one time
o Specific weekend requirements for full time and part-time (26 and 17 respectively)
o Friday requirement yearly
o Self scheduling model with schedule posted 3 months in advance
